The Minnesota Lynx have been the standout team in the WNBA season so far, outshining even the undefeated Connecticut Sun. As they face off against the Las Vegas Aces tonight at 8:00 pm ET on NBA TV, the Lynx aim to maintain their impressive winning streak.
The Lynx (4-1) have only suffered one setback so far, which was a one-point overtime loss to the Sun last Thursday. Their record also boasts two victories against the Seattle Storm, a commanding 17-point win over the New York Liberty, and an impressive 13-point win in Atlanta the night after their triumph against New York.
Will they be able to maintain their performance against the two-time defending WNBA champions? Despite scoring a season-high 99 points in their victory against the Indiana Fever on Saturday, the Aces (3-1) have not been exceptionally strong as they continue to play without Chelsea Gray, who is still injured. Can they expect a challenging match at the Target Center?

Las Vegas Aces vs Minnesota Lynx Betting Analysis
The Aces’ offensive performance is not at its best without Gray, but they still lead the WNBA in scoring with an average of 91.3 points per game. Although they struggled from beyond the arc in their first game against the Phoenix Mercury, making only 6 of 29 attempts, they have improved significantly in their last three games by making 37 of 97 shots from outside (38.1%).
However, there has been a slight deficiency in the defensive aspect recently, and this might have an impact on tonight’s game.
This is a small sample size, obviously. There’s only so much you can read into about four games. But they have allowed 80+ points in each game, and they currently rank 10th in the league in scoring defense (85.0 PPG), ninth in field goal defense (44.8%), and last in three-point defense (41.8%).
That last number is especially glaring when they are giving 27.5 attempts (11th in the league) and 11.5 makes (last in the league) from outside per game.
The Lynx are currently leading the league in three-point accuracy with a 38.6% success rate. They showcased their exceptional shooting skills in their recent victories against the Liberty and Dream. In Saturday’s game against New York, they made 14 of 28 attempts from beyond the arc, resulting in an impressive 50% accuracy. Similarly, in Sunday’s game against Atlanta, they made 13 of 29 attempts, achieving a 44.8% success rate.
That success owes a lot to the significant contributions of Kayla McBride, a seasoned guard, and Alanna Smith, the latest addition to the team.
During her initial five WNBA seasons, Smith’s three-point shooting percentage was only 24.9%, while her overall field goal percentage stood at 42.4%. However, in her first five games as a member of the Lynx, she has significantly improved, shooting an impressive 64.1% (11 of 17) from beyond the arc and 54.7% (29 of 53) overall from the field.
McBride has only achieved a shooting percentage of 40.0% or higher from three-point range once throughout her career. However, this season she has been performing exceptionally well, shooting at a rate of 51.4% (18 out of 35) from beyond the arc. Additionally, she has maintained an impressive overall shooting percentage of 53.7% (29 out of 54) from the field.
Although the Aces are missing one of their key players, their early losses should not undermine their status as the best team in the league. However, these losses present numerous opportunities to seize good value in the meantime. Tonight’s game against the Lynx is one such opportunity, as they have a strong chance of not only giving the champions a tough competition but also securing a victory.
