Ramirez showcased unexpected discipline and restraint, qualities not typically associated with his earlier years, as he dominated Goulamirian throughout the 12 rounds. This strategic approach led to a convincing victory for the Mexican, with judges scoring the fight 118-110 in his favor. Furthermore, his successful transition to the cruiserweight division hinted at promising opportunities for more significant and exciting bouts in the future.
Ramirez, at the age of just 32, continues to pose a significant threat in his current form, especially in a division that lacks elite fighters. His ability to dominate Goulamirian, who may not be a world-class opponent but had an undefeated record of 27 professional fights, indicates that Ramirez is indeed maturing and reaching his peak, rather than being past his prime and easily defeated.
It is undoubtedly a relief for both Ramirez’s supporters and himself. In the recent past, Ramirez had to completely transform his approach due to Dmitry Bivol defeating him in 2022, ending his reign as a light-heavyweight champion. However, to his credit, Ramirez has successfully reinvented himself and after his victory over Goulamirian tonight, with a record of 46-1 (36), it seems like Ramirez is once again soaring to new heights.
