Storm vs Wings Prediction & Picks (6/13): Will Desperation Drive Dallas to a Home Win?

Following their third loss of the season against the Minnesota Lynx, the Seattle Storm regained their momentum on Tuesday by securing a 16-point victory against the Los Angeles Sparks. Tonight, they aim to defeat another struggling team as they face Arike Ogunbowale and the Dallas Wings (7:00 pm ET, ESPN).

The Storm (8-4) secured a 95-79 victory against the Sparks on Tuesday, with Nneka Ogwumike leading the team with a season-high 26 points in her first game against her former team. Jewell Loyd added 21 points and six rebounds, while Skylar Diggins-Smith contributed 19 points, six assists, and five rebounds. With this win, Seattle improved to 4-1 at home this season.

Tonight, the Storm resumes their journey on the road, holding a record of 4-3, having experienced defeats against the Lynx twice and the New York Liberty once. The team’s performance against the top teams in the WNBA has been a combination of success and challenges, yet they have managed to handle the weaker opponents quite comfortably.

Is that going to remain true? The Wings, with a record of 3-7, are currently stuck in a five-game losing streak and haven’t secured a victory at home since their season opener against the Chicago Sky.

Seattle Storm vs Dallas Wings Betting Analysis

At the start of the season, injuries to important players have had a significant impact on several teams. The Aces are struggling without Chelsea Gray, the Phoenix Mercury managed to win only four out of their first ten games without Brittney Griner, the Washington Mystics faced difficulties in securing victories while Brittney Sykes was out, and lastly, we have the Wings.

Dallas has not only been without Satou Sabally indefinitely, but they have also been missing Natasha Howard since their first game against the Sky.

The opportunity for Maddy Siegrist (14.1 PPG, 4.3 RPG, 54.5% FG) and Monique Billings (12.7 PPG, 9.1 RPG, 2.6 APG) to assume significant responsibilities has arisen, which is highly beneficial.

However, the team has also become heavily dependent on Ogunbowale. She ranks second in the WNBA for scoring, averaging 26.4 points per game, and sixth in assists with 5.5 assists per game. Additionally, she leads the league in steals with an average of 3.2 steals per game. Nevertheless, her shooting percentages are a concern, as she is only shooting 36.1% from the field on 24.1 attempts per game and 30.0% from three-point range on nine attempts per game.

When she’s in form, she has the ability to deliver outstanding performances like the 40-point game she showcased against the Mercury on May 25th. However, when she’s not at her best, the situation can turn unfavorable for both her and the Wings, as was evident last Friday. On that occasion, she struggled to make any of her nine three-point attempts, resulting in a disappointing 81-72 loss to Los Angeles.

The Seattle Storm are currently ranked second in the WNBA for field goal defense, with a percentage of 40.1%. Throughout the season, the only team that has managed to shoot 45% or higher against Seattle is the Lynx, accomplishing this feat twice.

Facing one of the top teams in the league might just be what Ogunbowale needs to regain her shooting form. However, on the flip side, it could result in another challenging evening for her. If the latter scenario unfolds, it’s probable that the Wings will endure another arduous and unsuccessful night.

Seattle Storm vs Dallas Wings Prediction & Picks

Storm vs Wings Prediction: Storm to win

Storm vs Wings Picks

Skylar Diggins-Smith (Storm) under 5.5 assists (+100)

Diggins-Smith ranks fifth in the WNBA for assists this season, averaging 5.8 APG. However, despite her recent performance of six assists against the Sparks, it is unlikely for her to maintain this number against the Wings. So far, she has not managed to achieve six or more assists in consecutive games throughout the season.

Storm -6.5

The Storm’s victory against the Sparks on Tuesday notched their sixth consecutive win this season when they scored 80 or more points within regulation. In these instances, they have triumphed by a margin of nine or more points in five games, with particularly impressive wins by 32, 15, 18, and 16 points.

In five out of their seven losses this season, the Wings have given up over 80 points in regular play. Their scoring defense in the WNBA ranks second to last, with an average of 85.4 points per game. If the Storm manages to score 80 points as expected, they will probably surpass the spread.
