Okposo gets to hoist Stanley Cup in hometown after delay
After enduring a global IT outage, a Panther’s forward patiently waits and eventually gets the opportunity to lay hands on the trophy.
Kyle Okposo waited 17 NHL seasons to get his hands on the Stanley Cup. A few more hours weren’t going to hurt.
Despite a widespread IT outage on Friday that disrupted numerous flights, including the Cup’s transportation, the Florida Panthers forward still managed to raise the trophy. Unfortunately, Okposo’s prearranged event had to be canceled due to the ensuing chaos.
However, similar to the Panthers’ determination in the 2023-24 season, Okposo’s determination to win the Cup could not be stopped.

In front of a general store proudly displaying a Panthers banner, the seasoned forward showcased the trophy in his hometown of St. Paul, Minnesota.
After what must have been a tiring day, Phil Pritchard, the Keeper of the Cup from the Hockey Hall of Fame, shared the photo.
However, Okposo and numerous locals embraced the situation and made the best out of it. As Okposo and countless others can verify, it’s always worth the wait when it comes to lifting the Cup.
