From the beginning to the end, Charles Leclerc maintained complete control over the Monaco Grand Prix.
Here are the complete results from the 2024 Monaco Grand Prix from Monte Carlo, which has been won by Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc.
From the beginning until the end of the Monaco Grand Prix, the Monegasque driver dominated the race, maintaining a steady pace throughout despite a first-lap red flag, resulting in an uninterrupted competition.
Red flag stops play on opening lap at Monaco Grand Prix
During the beginning of the race, a major collision occurred between Sergio Perez from Red Bull and the two drivers from Haas, as they were ascending the hill out of Ste. Devote. This incident led to a red flag being raised in order to facilitate repairs on the barriers and remove the scattered debris.
None of the three drivers were harmed in the accident, but Carlos Sainz was lucky to reach the pits whilst the race was paused due to a puncture caused by contact with Oscar Piastri’s McLaren.
After the race resumed, the grid order remained unchanged, and Sainz reclaimed his position in third place. However, there was a significant change as the drivers were permitted to switch their tires after it was determined that they had already utilized their initial set during the first start.
Most drivers opted to swap to the hard tyres, although Max Verstappen from Red Bull and the two Mercedes drivers chose the mediums for the restart.
Consequently, strategy had no significant role in the race as the leading five drivers did not make any pit stops during the restarted event. The top four drivers maintained their starting positions throughout the 78-lap race, resulting in a lack of exciting action.
Starting on the medium tyres, George Russell claimed a commendable fifth place. However, towards the end of the race, he felt the intensity rise as Verstappen, who had just made a pit stop for new tyres, exerted pressure with intentions of making a strong final push towards the finish line.
Russell held a strong lead in front, and despite the efforts of both Hamilton and Verstappen, they were unable to surpass him.
After teammate Esteban Ocon caused a first-lap collision, Pierre Gasly from Alpine managed to secure 10th place. Yuki Tsunoda finished eighth for RB, while Alex Albon for Williams claimed ninth.
Nico Hulkenberg and Kevin Magnussen, the Haas team drivers, joined Sergio Perez and Esteban Ocon as the quartet of drivers who retired from the race.
