Alonso above Hamilton; Sainz, Leclerc and Norris level: F1 24 driver ratings revealed

Max Verstappen’s diverse range of interests extends beyond the world of F1, but remains rooted in the field of motorsport.

EA Sports have announced the driver ratings for the new F1 24 game, which has now been launched in its ‘Champions Edition’ format.

Often a topic of discussion, the drivers’ ratings frequently become a talking point, despite the game’s worldwide release on May 31 for PlayStation, Xbox Series, and PC via platforms such as EA App, Epic Games Store, and Steam.

F1 24 driver ratings released as Max Verstappen top again

Perhaps unsurprisingly given his 19 victories in 22 races last season and flying start to this one, with EA saying the overall ratings take into account the start to the 2024 season, up to the Chinese Grand Prix, Max Verstappen leads the way on the overall ratings – with 96.

The dynamic system ensures that drivers’ scores are regularly updated after a few races to accurately represent their current performance. It considers various factors such as their experience, racecraft, awareness, and pace. Notably, greater importance is placed on pace to establish their overall score.

Fernando Alonso is second overall on 92, three points clear of a bunched-up chasing pack of Lewis Hamilton, who drops from last year’s starting rating of 92, Lando Norris, Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz, who all sit on 89 as of the release of F1 24.

A video was released on the official Formula 1 YouTube channel. In this video, the drivers participated in a guessing game where they rated each other’s performance in the game. They assigned scores for different sections and eventually disclosed their overall ratings. Additionally, there was a lot of doodling on their teammates’ faces throughout the video.

Upon learning that Logan Sargeant’s overall score for Williams was a low 70, Alex Albon commented, “They have treated you unfairly here.” However, there is still an opportunity for improvement since EA takes into account the driver’s form when calculating scores.

Oscar Piastri emerges as the grid’s most notable climber, beginning F1 23 with a score of 74 and soaring to 84 for this year’s game. Conversely, Lance Stroll experiences a decline in overall points, starting last year’s game at 84 and entering this one at 80. Similarly, Valtteri Bottas witnesses a drop of six points from the previous year, now standing at 81 compared to his previous score of 87.

As the game continues to be updated, the ratings of the drivers will change throughout the year. This provides an opportunity for the drivers to enhance their scores if their performance on the track improves.
