‘Sure deal’ reportedly struck as another F1 2025 seat claimed by exciting prospect

Could Oliver Bearman be the face of Haas’s future?

While uncertainty remains over how the F1 2025 grid will shape up, Formula 1 correspondents Alex Jacques and Lawrence Barretto have Oliver Bearman to Haas as a “sure deal”.

Slowly the grid for next season is falling into place, though a huge amount of business remains incomplete with the likes of Mercedes in need of determining their Lewis Hamilton replacement, while Carlos Sainz is yet to confirm his next move.

Oliver Bearman to Haas looking a ‘sure deal’

Sainz has been the subject of numerous rumors, with Red Bull, Mercedes, and Sauber (possibly becoming Audi) being mentioned. Additionally, Williams and Haas have shown interest in him, along with potential targets such as Valtteri Bottas from Sauber, and Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly from Alpine.

There is a possibility that Haas might need to find replacements for two drivers. Nico Hulkenberg is heading to Sauber, and Kevin Magnussen has not yet finalized a new contract.

During his appearance on Channel 4, Barretto mentioned that Williams and Haas teams are in pursuit of Bottas, Ocon, and Gasly.

“There are still a few options that need to be sorted through.”

According to Jacques, Bottas is anticipated to make a comeback to Williams, the team he departed to join Mercedes following Nico Rosberg’s unexpected retirement immediately after clinching the 2016 World Championship. Jacques contradicts the belief that Sainz would be the one agreeing to return to Williams.

Jacques further revealed that Haas is anticipated to secure the signing of Bearman, thus adding another crucial element to the F1 2025 driver market puzzle.

The British teenager and Ferrari junior made a significant impact by delivering an outstanding debut F1 performance for Ferrari at the Saudi Arabian GP. He stepped in for Sainz, who was unable to participate due to appendicitis, and showcased his talent by securing an impressive 7th place finish.

Bearman, in addition to his Formula 2 responsibilities, has secured six opportunities to participate in FP1 sessions with Haas in the 2024 F1 season. He has already completed the initial outing at Imola.

Jacques stated that it is likely that Bottas will join Williams, which would leave Haas with a wide range of options to choose from for their vacant position.

There might be some unexpected additions to that team.

We anticipate Oliver Bearman’s move from Formula 2 to Formula 1.

Barretto replied, “Doesn’t it seem like one of the guaranteed deals for next year?”

Haas currently sit P7 in the Constructors’ Championship, their points tally for the F1 2024 season so far also seven.
