Mahura honors Humboldt Broncos on day with Cup in hometown St. Albert

A former defenseman of the Panthers honors the memory of young hockey players who tragically lost their lives in 2018.

Josh Mahura is a Stanley Cup champion and wanted to make sure the Humboldt Broncos felt like one too.

Mahura spent a rewarding day engaging with his devoted fans in St. Albert, Alberta. Following this, he decided to pay tribute to the fallen Humboldt Broncos players at the town’s memorial. It is worth noting that this memorial specifically commemorates the four Broncos players who were also part of the St. Albert Raiders, a beloved local youth hockey team.

Last season’s Cup winner, Mahura, proudly stood before the players’ plaque as he posed with the trophy alongside the Florida Panthers.

Logan Hunter, Jaxon Joseph, Connor Lukan, and Steven Wack, all former players for both the Broncos and Raiders, are being respectfully remembered and honored at the memorial service.

The crash in Saskatchewan claimed the lives of 16 Broncos players, coaches, and support staff members in April 2018, while another 13 individuals were injured.

After securing victory in the Cup alongside the Panthers, Mahura embarked on a new journey by joining the Seattle Kraken as an unrestricted free agent.
