Red Bull’s announcement on Wednesday shook things up in the midst of ongoing speculation about Verstappen’s future, as it revealed that Newey would be departing the team by the end of the first quarter in 2025.
However, for now, he will not be participating in the Formula 1 project. His attention will be directed towards Red Bull’s RB17 hypercar.
The departure of Newey has been suggested as a potential trigger for Verstappen’s own departure.
According to former IndyCar driver turned pundit Patrick, Verstappen revealed in Miami that he has accomplished all of his goals in Formula 1.
She wouldn’t be shocked if he formed a connection with Newey outside of Formula 1.

However, as long as he remains in Formula 1, which could be until 2028 when his Red Bull contract comes to an end, Verstappen has clearly expressed his desire to have the top-performing car on the track, and currently, that happens to be a machine designed by Newey.
“He emphasized his desire to have the best car, leading us to question him about his potential departure. It is clear that we all strongly believe that Adrian Newey plays a significant role in achieving that goal,” she explained.
The question is whether the influence from within is strong enough for him to desire leaving based on his shared beliefs.
It’s evident that we don’t have a clear understanding of the entire process, but he did mention that the team supporting Adrian has gathered extensive information and they possess significant expertise.
The question at hand is: how much longer can this situation persist? Will it only be until the engine and car undergo a complete transformation? Is that when it will all come to an end?
As of now, we are unsure, but he currently holds a more extended contract at Red Bull.
