Mahura honors Humboldt Broncos on day with Cup in hometown St. Albert

A former defenseman of the Panthers honors the memory of young hockey players lost in a tragic accident of 2018.

Josh Mahura is a Stanley Cup champion and wanted to make sure the Humboldt Broncos felt like one too.

Following a busy day of engaging with his supporters in St. Albert, Alberta, Mahura brought the Cup to the town’s memorial on Monday. This memorial served as a tribute to the Humboldt Broncos players who tragically lost their lives in a bus accident back in 2018. Notably, four of these Broncos players were also members of the St. Albert Raiders, a youth hockey team from the local area.

Last season’s Cup winner, Mahura, proudly stood with the trophy in front of the players’ plaque to commemorate their victory with the Florida Panthers.

Logan Hunter, Jaxon Joseph, Connor Lukan, and Steven Wack, who were all part of both the Broncos and Raiders teams, are being commemorated at the memorial as a mark of respect.

The tragic incident that occurred in Saskatchewan during April 2018 resulted in the loss of 16 Broncos players, coaches, and support staff members, while an additional 13 individuals sustained injuries.

After securing the Cup victory with the Panthers, Mahura joined the Seattle Kraken as a free agent.
