The opening ceremony for the 2024 Summer Games in Paris is scheduled for Friday. To embrace the competitive atmosphere, we questioned the Canadiens about the disciplines their teammates would excel in.

This year’s Games will finally witness the highly anticipated introduction of breakdancing, with one player standing out as the clear favorite for his exceptional dance-battling skills.

“I have to admit, Cole [Caufield] really impresses me,” Alex Newhook reluctantly admitted about the Habs winger. Cayden Primeau chimed in, acknowledging, “I can’t say for sure if he’d excel, but his boundless energy is undeniable.”

Caufield’s smooth moves have always been evident, as nominated by Christian Dvorak, Juraj Slafkovsky, and Jordan Harris.

For the 2024 programme, two additional summer sports, namely skateboarding and rock climbing, have been included. Primeau speculated that Matheson would thrive in the latter, comparing the defenseman to a “spider monkey.” Brendan Gallagher supported this notion, pointing out Matheson’s lanky arms which resemble those of a rock climber.

Regarding conventional sports, several players envisioned themselves standing on the podium. Gallagher, in particular, confidently asserted, “I will emerge victorious while everyone else falls behind,” in response to inquiries about the 100-meter dash.

Michael Pezzetta and Arber Xhekaj shared the same mindset when it came to weightlifting. Expressing confidence, the determined Italian King acknowledged that he would have to push himself, but acknowledged that Arber Xhekaj would still pose a strong competition.

Harris, who weighs 189 lbs and stands at 5-foot-11, confidently believes he is stronger than Pezzetta. With a laugh, he boldly declares, “I will stand by that belief till the end.” To settle this debate once and for all, a friendly competition might be arranged during the beginning of training camp to determine the ultimate champion.

Xhekaj was undoubtedly the top contender in the realm of boxing. With an established reputation, he had no need to prove his skills in that field.

In summary, Matheson and Pezzetta deserve honorable mentions for being the preferred choices of their teammates in multiple sports mentioned earlier. It is possible that they are talented in more than one sport.
