Spencer Stastney signed a two-year, $1.65 million contract with the Nashville Predators on Thursday. It has an average annual value of $825,000.

The defenseman, aged 24, has signed a two-way contract for the upcoming season and a one-way contract for 2025-26. On July 5, he had submitted a request for salary arbitration.

Last season, Stastney played 20 regular-season games with the Predators, contributing four points (two goals, two assists) while maintaining an average of 15 minutes and 59 seconds of ice time per game. However, during the Stanley Cup Playoff games, he did not manage to secure any points in the three games played.

Stastney was chosen by Nashville in the 2018 NHL Draft’s fifth round (No. 131). He has recorded six points, consisting of two goals and four assists, in 28 regular-season games.

Last season, the Predators (47-30-5) secured a fourth-place finish in the Central Division and unfortunately faced a defeat against the Vancouver Canucks in the first round of the playoffs after six intense games.

Nashville has also signed forwards Steven Stamkos (four years, $32 million; $8 million AAV) and Jonathan Marchessault (five years, $27.5 million; $5.5 million AAV), defenseman Brady Skjei (seven years, $49 million; $7 million AAV) and goalie Scott Wedgewood (two years, $3 million; $1.5 million AAV) as free agents this offseason.
