Esteban Ocon hints at ‘new opportunities’ in social media post with Haas seat rumoured

Esteban Ocon has posted on social media the simple words “new week, new opportunities”, after a disappointing weekend that saw him finish well down the field at Silverstone.

The Alpine driver crossed the finish line in 16th place, two laps behind the leader. He made a risky move by opting for intermediate tyres at the start of the British Grand Prix. Reflecting on the race, he acknowledged that he and Alpine made all the wrong choices, resulting in their disappointing position.

Both Ocon and Alpine were keen to put a difficult weekend behind them, with the team replying to Ocon’s post on X to say “Let’s keep going”, though without it being a race week, they will have to wait to put Silverstone behind them.

He responded to inquiries about his afternoon, stating to media outlets such as PlanetF1.com, “That race wasn’t particularly courageous.”

“We experienced a series of unfortunate events where everything that could have gone wrong did. Our decision-making was consistently flawed, starting from our preparations before the race, continuing on the grid, and throughout the race itself. Every call we made and every piece of information we received turned out to be incorrect.”

“There isn’t much more to add regarding this weekend. Let’s simply move on and focus on the upcoming race in Budapest, as it is a fantastic track. We anticipate returning to our usual form there. However, today was undeniably challenging.”

However, some of Ocon’s supporters commented below his post, speculating that the mention of “new opportunities” might allude to his potential destination for the upcoming season, as his Formula 1 seat for 2025 remains uncertain at present.

While a move to Haas has been rumoured, he was complimentary about the team after the race at Silverstone, but confirmed that there was no news regarding what is happening next in his career.

“He stated that there is nothing more to say on that.”

“I’ve already addressed this on Thursday. You’re aware that we’re actively working on my future, engaging in productive discussions. Hopefully, I’ll have some exciting news to share in the near future.”

When questioned about Haas’ recent improvement in performance, he further stated that their significant progress serves as a noteworthy example for all other teams, showcasing their current approach to achieving success.
