Wimbledon Tennis Championships 2024: Schedule, scores, results, bracket, start time, TV channel, live stream

The ongoing 2024 Wimbledon tournament has witnessed numerous thrilling upsets, and the excitement further intensifies as the semifinals take shape. Carlos Alcaraz remains determined to protect his 2023 championship title, while the women’s competition has proven to be more volatile and uncertain.

Last year’s winner Markéta Vondroušová was upset in the first round. Then, World No. 1 Iga Swiatek lost to Yulia Putintseva in the third round. Putintseva didn’t make it much further as she fell to No. 13 seed Jelena Ostapenko in the round of 16.

Another big shock was seeing No. 2 Coco Gauff fall to Emma Navarro in straight sets in the round of 16. The quarterfinals saw Navarro struggle to compete against No. 7 seed Jasmine Paolini, the Italian star who reached the French Open final last month.

Aryna Sabalenka, ranked third, has pulled out of Wimbledon due to a right shoulder injury. As a result, Elena Rybakina, ranked fourth, is now the highest-seeded player remaining in the women’s singles category. Rybakina, who won the Wimbledon Championship in 2022, is scheduled to face Elina Svitolina, ranked twenty-first, in the quarterfinals on Wednesday.

Carlos Alcaraz, the defending champion, secured his spot in the semifinals on the men’s side by defeating American star Tommy Paul with a 5-7, 6-4, 6-2, 6-2 victory.

In the midst of a grueling five-set clash against the fifth-ranked Daniil Medvedev, the top-ranked player in the world, Jannik Sinner decided to take a medical break. Despite giving it his all, Sinner ultimately came up short, allowing Medvedev to secure his spot in the Wimbledon semifinals for the second year in a row.
