Never mind wonderkid Kimi Antonelli, Ralf Schumacher believes if Williams want a replacement, as they should for Logan Sargeant, they should look to Mick Schumacher.
Sargeant’s future in Formula 1 came under scrutiny during the Miami Grand Prix. It was disclosed that an unnamed team, believed to be Williams, had sought permission from the FIA for Antonelli to compete before turning 18.

Just 17 years old today, the Italian would need the FIA’s permission to contest a Grand Prix after Formula 1 imposed a minimum age of 18. Antonelli doesn’t turn 18 until the Sunday of the Dutch Grand Prix in August.
If the FIA granted the request, it would be Sargeant who would lose their job.
But while Williams and Mercedes both denied that putting the Italian in the car at the next in Imola was the plan, Schumacher believes Sargeant’s time is up.
“It’s clear that Sargeant is overwhelmed,” the former F1 driver told the Formula1.de YouTube channel. “That’s how it is.
You can easily notice a lot of mistakes he makes just by observing him, even when he was in China before where he spun again. His body language speaks volumes about it.
It would be beneficial for him and the team if they could manage to find a solution.

Schumacher: That fits with the team’s performance
James Vowles, the team boss of Williams, remains steadfast in his support of Sargeant and reiterated in Miami that he will not be replaced in the car.
“He said that we are still on that journey. The challenge Logan faces ahead is truly immense.”
“What I have been requesting from him is to disregard the external pressures from the world, the pressures we have collectively generated, the pressures I have personally contributed to, and the pressure that all of you [media] have added. It is crucial to consolidate all these pressures and set them aside, focusing on giving your utmost effort to surpass Alex, drive the team forward, and achieve positive outcomes.”
Without a doubt, this is an arduous field, which is further encapsulated by various formal approaches to defining its objectives.
He stated, “He is currently in the car and will continue to stay there. My role here is to provide support for him.”
Schumacher cynically remarks that Williams’ on-track performances “fit” well with their inability to score any points this season.
“Surely, waiting is an option. You have the freedom to choose any course of action. You can allow him to continue driving for another decade,” Schumacher expressed. “The level of patience in Formula 1 baffles me.”
“Eddie Jordan or Frank Williams would have never possessed such immense patience. My upbringing in Formula 1 was distinctively dissimilar. A contract held no significance whatsoever.”
Schumacher was taken aback by Vowles’ strong belief in Sargeant’s continued presence, saying, “That aligns somewhat with the team’s overall performance.”
“I would have had more trust in Williams this year, which is why it is crucial for the management to recruit a second skilled driver to alleviate the situation, rather than solely focusing on the requirements of the second driver.”
According to Schumacher, his nephew Mick Schumacher is the right person for the job.
He added, “I truly believe that Mick possesses the potential and merits a position in comparison to certain individuals presently participating in Formula 1.”
A ‘comparison’ test will take place at Silverstone, where Mick Schumacher and Antonelli will be behind the wheel of a 2022 Mercedes W13.
