Final Adrian Newey Red Bull project to break cover as RB17 release date confirmed

Adrian Newey’s departure from Red Bull is slated for the initial quarter of 2025.

With his Red Bull Formula 1 involvement over, Adrian Newey has one final project with the Milton Keynes-based outfit, the RB17, which has been confirmed for a grand debut.

Before the Miami Grand Prix, an unexpected announcement was made that Newey would be concluding his involvement with Red Bull’s Formula 1 activities and departing completely by the first quarter of 2025. However, he still has some thrilling obligations to fulfill beforehand, namely working on Red Bull’s RB17 hypercar.

Adrian Newey-designed Red Bull RB17 to debut at Goodwood

The RB17, a hypercar focused on track performance, was unveiled in 2022. This exceptional vehicle capitalizes on Newey’s expertise in ground effect aerodynamics and is a result of collaboration between Red Bull Advanced Technologies and the renowned designer.

The RB17 will make its debut as a finished product at the 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed, so we won’t have to wait until 2025 when production begins to see it.

After the unveiling on July 12th, the exhibit will be showcased in Cathedral Paddock for the rest of the weekend.

Red Bull’s participation at Goodwood will extend well beyond the RB17 unveiling. The team plans to commemorate their 20th anniversary in Formula 1 by showcasing a variety of cars and drivers from their incredibly successful history, having secured seven Drivers’ and six Constructors’ championships.

Those attending will include Christian Horner, the team principal, and David Coulthard, who has won races 13 times and achieved Red Bull’s first F1 podium.

Horner expressed his excitement about unveiling the RB17 to the public for the first time, stating that the Goodwood Festival of Speed was the perfect global platform for this occasion.

“We have infused the RB17 with a remarkable level of rarity and engineering brilliance. Our relentless dedication to racing has enabled us to craft the ultimate performance car, and we eagerly anticipate unveiling the outcome to the public.”

“I am equally excited to present an impressive array of cars and drivers at the renowned festival, and eagerly anticipate commemorating our 20th season in the presence of enthusiastic motorsport enthusiasts.”

In F1 2024, it appears that Red Bull is poised to secure two more championship victories. Max Verstappen is leading the Drivers’ Championship, aiming for his fourth consecutive title, while Red Bull is leading the Constructors’.

Nevertheless, McLaren is posing a potential challenge to Red Bull’s seemingly effortless dominance, as Lando Norris emerged victorious in Miami, piloting the extensively upgraded MCL38.
