On August 3, Jared Anderson will encounter the most challenging trial of his career as he goes head-to-head with Martin Bakole.
Last Saturday, Zhilei Zhang’s fifth round stoppage of ‘The Bronze Bomber’ ruled out the possibility of an unbeaten 24-year-old heavyweight being linked to a fight against former WBC champion Deontay Wilder at the BMO Stadium in Los Angeles.
Zhang’s win played a significant role in Queensberry’s dominant 10-0 victory over Matchroom in Riyadh. This triumph marked another successful evening for Turki Alalshikh, the Chairman of the General Entertainment Authority. Alalshikh, who has successfully organized various events, is now venturing into the American boxing market on August 3. In this upcoming event, former undisputed welterweight champion Terence Crawford will face Israil Madrimov for the WBA super-welterweight title, bringing together various promoters under Alalshikh’s leadership.
Anderson, an undefeated boxer with a record of 17 wins and 15 knockouts, is being promoted by Top Rank. He is set to face Martin Bakole, a heavyweight fighter from Scotland with a record of 20 wins and 15 knockouts. Bakole’s career is in need of a significant fight on a prominent platform, and he is considered one of the division’s hidden talents. In his last three matches, Bakole, who is 31 years old, has weighed between 275 and 299lbs. Notably, he secured victories over Carlos Takam and Tony Yoka in these bouts.
Anderson has consistently displayed a notable weight advantage during his recent victories against Charles Martin, Andrii Rudenko, and Ryad Merhy, weighing in at 243, 239, and 251 lbs respectively. Hailing from Ohio, this promising fighter is regarded as a potential world champion and holds high rankings in the WBC, WBO, and IBF organizations. On the other hand, Bakole currently holds the title of WBA’s number one contender.
The August 3 card is incredibly stacked with talent, including exciting matchups like Crawford-Madrimov and Anderson-Bakole. Former heavyweight champion Andy Ruiz Jr will be making his return against Jarrell Miller, while Isaac Cruz defends his newly-crowned WBA super-lightweight title against Jose Valenzuela. Additionally, Cuban sensations David Morrell and Andy Cruz will be taking on Radivoje Kalajdzic and Antonio Moran in the light-heavyweight and lightweight divisions respectively. Unfortunately, the super-welterweight fight between Vergil Ortiz Jr and Tim Tszyu has been called off due to Tszyu’s unhealed cuts from his previous loss. We are still unsure if Ortiz Jr will be featured on the bill.
