Kell Brook disagrees with Usyk-Fury verdict, calls for rematch

EIGHTY per cent of Boxing News app users shared the opinion of two from three ringside judges that Oleksandr Usyk beat Tyson Fury, however one former British world champion thought otherwise.

Kell Brook, who narrowly defeated Shawn Porter by majority decision a decade ago to claim the IBF welterweight championship, expressed his belief that Fury should have been declared the winner in Riyadh last night.

Usyk emerged as the victor in the undisputed heavyweight clash with scores of 114-113 and 115-112 from officials Mike Fitzgerald and Manuel Oliver Palomo. On the other hand, Craig Metcalfe favored Fury with a verdict of 114-113.

Speaking to Boxing News inside the Kingdom Arena, Brook gave his own assessment.

He said, “It was a highly technical battle, but I believed Tyson Fury had the edge in that fight.”

In my opinion, he seemed to be utilizing his jab effectively at the beginning of the fight, gaining control of the rounds. However, he got hit with a shot later on and seemed vulnerable. Nonetheless, I believe he did sufficient to secure the victory.

Brook expressed his viewpoint, stating, “In my opinion, Fury was leading by three rounds, maybe two or three rounds, but we need to watch it again.”
