Quinton Jackson is still out there trying to wheel and deal his way into another fight, this time against Rashad Evans.
“Rampage” hasn’t fought since a lethargic loss to Fedor Emelianenko where he looked overweight and under-motivated back in 2019. He’s spent the last five years trying to fight Shannon Briggs in boxing or his old The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) punching bag, Darrill “Titties” Schoonover, in mixed martial arts (MMA), but no one has been willing to foot the bill.
Currently, he has a fresh battle in mind that he is proposing, and ONE Championship appears to be potentially interested.
“I saw [Evans] not too long ago,” Jackson said on a new episode of The Joe Rogan Experience. “Him and I are talking about doing a boxing match against each other in November. We’re trying to get that going.”
After the June 8, 2024, date fell through, does this imply that the Briggs boxing match is no longer happening?
Jackson expressed his ongoing effort, but his trust in Shannon has diminished. Uncertain if Shannon will succeed, Jackson acknowledged Shannon’s persuasive words. Jackson admitted that if Shannon eventually accomplishes his goal, he would be willing to confront him. However, at present, it seems that Jackson’s initial boxing match will be against Rashad, as he aims to reclaim victory in that bout.
ONE Championship has an important Atlanta, Ga., card on Nov. 8, 2024, and a throwback fight like “Rampage vs. Evans 2” would certainly draw attention. Would the fight be any good? Jackson is 46 and Rashad is 44. Their first fight at UFC 114 back in 2010 required multiple resets because of stalling and was widely panned after all the hype and build-up of an entire TUF season.
However, it was sold, and that is the utmost significant factor to consider.
However, it is important to note that “Rampage” has not been able to negotiate a fight deal for the past five years. Could it be due to an excessive price tag or his extravagant demands? Speaking about the Briggs fight, Jackson stated, “The individuals organizing the event turned out to be deceitful scammers.”
MMAmania.com had previously reported how the promoters in question, Quantum Sports & Media (QSM) World, have been accused of taking $250,000 from a promoter to help throw a concert in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, featuring Drake and Travis Scott and then cutting contact.
