No. 11-ranked flyweight up-and-comer, Tracy Cortez, came in a bit heavy for her UFC Denver headliner against former strawweight champion and No. 6-ranked contender Rose Namajunas, which is understandable when you consider the bout was booked on super short notice — thanks to a late withdrawal from flyweight “Future” star Maycee Barber.
That’s why Cortez made the agonizing decision to chop off a sizable portion of her hair, allowing her to hit the 126-pound limit ahead of this Sat. night’s (July 13, 2024) showdown on ESPN and ESPN+ inside Ball Arena in Denver, Colorado. Perhaps she was inspired by ex-boyfriend, Brian Ortega, who lopped off his locks ahead of UFC Fight Island 6.
