For the third consecutive year, the Oilers captain triumphed over his superstar counterparts Auston Matthews, Nathan MacKinnon, and Nikita Kucherov to claim the prestigious honor.

EDMONTON, AB – Connor McDavid beat out fellow superstars Auston Matthews, Nathan MacKinnon and Nikita Kucherov for the Best NHL Player award at ESPN’s ESPYS on Thursday.

During the 2023-24 regular season and 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs, the captain of the Oilers outperformed all other players by scoring the highest number of points. Throughout the year, they achieved an impressive total of 32 goals and 100 assists in 76 games. In addition, during the post-season, they continued their exceptional performance with eight goals and 34 assists in 25 appearances, leading Edmonton to secure the Western Conference championship.

McDavid secured his third consecutive victory as the Best NHL Player at the ESPYS.

In addition, he competed as a finalist in the Men’s Sports category for Best Athlete alongside renowned golfer Scottie Scheffler, baseball superstar Shohei Ohtani, and two-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who was ultimately awarded the honor for the second consecutive year.
