Will Max Verstappen and Lando Norris continue their streak of securing the top two positions in the upcoming Austrian Grand Prix, just like they have done in the previous Formula 1 races?
Verstappen and Norris have dominated the top two spots on the podium in five out of the last six races. Out of those five occasions, Verstappen has secured the top step four times, whereas Norris celebrated his maiden Formula 1 victory at the Miami Grand Prix last month.
It is highly probable that Verstappen and Norris will secure another 1-2 finish at the Red Bull Ring as they replicated their qualifying performance. Verstappen had gone without a pole position for three races in a row, but unsurprisingly, he clinched his eighth pole of the 2024 Formula 1 season by recording the fastest time in Q3. Norris came in second, while George Russell, Carlos Sainz Jr., and Lewis Hamilton also achieved impressive sub-65 second times in Q3.
Starting Grid for the 2024 Austrian Grand Prix
- Max Verstappen
- Lando Norris
- George Russell
- Carlos Sainz Jr.
- Lewis Hamilton
- Charles Leclerc
- Oscar Piastri
- Sergio Perez

- Pierre Gasly
- Yuki Tsunoda
- Fernando Alonso
- Alexander Albon

In addition to extending his impressive lead in points, Verstappen secured a win in the sprint race of the day. Meanwhile, Oscar Piastri outperformed his McLaren teammate Norris to claim second place.
As Sunday’s race approaches, Verstappen has extended his lead to 71 points over Norris, while Leclerc trails behind by an additional six points.
Is it possible that he will enter the upcoming British Grand Prix with an even greater edge? The signs seem to suggest so. According to the odds for the Austrian Grand Prix, Verstappen is heavily favored to clinch victory for a remarkable fifth time and secure his eighth win out of eleven races this season.

Austrian Grand Prix Predictions & Picks
Due to Verstappen’s absence from pole position in the Monaco Grand Prix, Canadian Grand Prix, and Spanish Grand Prix, several lucrative opportunities were present which are no longer accessible this weekend, as he returns to his customary spot on the starting grid.
However, there are still a few viable choices available. If you’re interested in participating in the betting for “Who will achieve the fastest lap at the Austrian Grand Prix?”, placing a wager on Verstappen (+120) is a wise decision.
So far in the 2024 Formula 1 season, he has only achieved the fastest lap twice, which occurred during the Bahrain Grand Prix and the Japanese Grand Prix. However, in his previous four victories at the Austrian Grand Prix, he managed to secure the fastest lap three times. In fact, he has consistently recorded the fastest lap in the last three editions of this race, even in the 2022 edition that was triumphed by Leclerc.

Apart from that, there is just one play that stands out in terms of value for me. Well, technically there are two, but they are distinct plays that depend on the same outcome, so it can be considered as essentially one play.
In the last five Formula 1 races, Sergio Perez has failed to secure a spot on the podium. In order to break this streak at the Red Bull Ring, he will need to make a significant advancement from his initial position of eighth.
It will be challenging, but I believe there is a good chance for him to achieve a top-six finish. This would be an improvement compared to his recent finishes of eighth place, did not finish, did not finish, and eighth place in his last four races. Betting odds for Perez to finish in the top six and for Red Bull to have both drivers in the top six are at +125. Therefore, you can choose either option or go for both if you are feeling confident that Perez can overcome his recent results. It would not reflect well on Perez to have a poor finish in his team’s home race, so even moving up a couple of positions would be a positive outcome for both him and Formula 1 bettors.
If you’re seeking more excitement and are open to some risk, betting on Hamilton (-140) to achieve a better result than Leclerc (+110) is a favorable choice. Hamilton has recently achieved his best performances of the season in the last two races and secured his first podium of 2024 in Spain. Additionally, he will begin the Austrian Grand Prix in a favorable position, particularly in relation to this specific bet.
