In the Semifinals of the 2024 Copa America, Colombia and Uruguay clash for a chance to face Argentina in the next round. It has been a while since either team reached the Title Match, but they both have a history of winning the tournament when they did. Colombia emerged victorious in 2001, while Uruguay claimed the title in 2011. Tonight, one of them is guaranteed an opportunity to compete for lifting the coveted trophy.
Both teams dominated in the Group Stage, effortlessly winning their respective groups. Colombia defeated Paraguay and Costa Rica in their opening matches, and held Brazil to a 1-1 draw to secure the top spot. In the Quarterfinals, Colombia mercilessly crushed Panama with a 5-0 victory. Similarly, Uruguay triumphed in all three of their group stage games, conceding only one goal against Panama. Their Quarterfinal match against Brazil was much more challenging, resulting in a goalless draw and ultimately advancing on penalties.
And now, we have an exciting match ahead of us, featuring two teams ranked in the Top 15 globally. The winner of this game will earn the opportunity to challenge Argentina, the current world number 1, for the Copa America Title. So, will it be Uruguay or Colombia who will step up to try and defeat Messi and his Argentine team on Sunday?

How Far Can Nunez and Uruguay Advance?

Uruguay and Argentina share the record for the most Copa America Titles, with each team winning 15 titles. It would be incredibly satisfying for Uruguay to surpass Argentina by defeating them in the Final match. However, before they can face Argentina, they must first overcome Colombia. Both teams have shown strong performances, but in my opinion, Uruguay has displayed a more explosive style of play. They have scored a total of 9 goals during the group stage, with impressive victories of 3 and 5 goals in individual matches. On the other hand, Colombia has managed to score in every match of the tournament so far. Although they have only conceded two goals, tonight’s match will truly test their defensive capabilities.
Colombia allowed a goal against a Brazilian team missing Vini, but they managed to fight back and secure a draw, earning them the top spot in the group. On the other hand, Uruguay failed to score against Brazil and didn’t defeat Panama as convincingly as Colombia did. However, I believe that Uruguay’s offense will shine tonight. They have impressed me, alongside Argentina, with their ability to score effortlessly. Not only do they create challenging opportunities, but their defense has also been rock solid. Although I have faith in both teams’ offenses, I slightly trust Uruguay’s defense more, which leads me to believe they will come out on top. It’s not surprising that they are considered slight favorites, but instead of supporting them, I have something different in mind.
Let me inform you that it is completely unlike their usual behavior.

On the other hand, Colombia recently had a remarkable 5-goal performance and has scored a total of 11 goals in 4 Copa America matches. Although they played more defensively against Brazil in their last Group Stage game, only managing to score one goal, they have proven their attacking capabilities.
In my opinion, I predict a 2-1 victory for Uruguay tonight or possibly a 2-2 draw leading to penalty kicks. Alternatively, you could consider placing a bet on Both Teams to Score with odds of +100, which I almost did before opting to bet on the total number of goals instead. I believe that both teams will score, with one of them managing to score two goals before the match concludes with the referee’s final whistle.
