EURO 2024 Semifinals, Spain vs France: Prediction & Best Bets

We have reached the last stage of the EURO 2024, with only four teams remaining. The tournament will culminate in three remaining matches: two semifinals and the final, marking the beginning of the end. Today, we are in for an intense showdown between two powerhouse teams – Spain and France. Despite France holding the second position in the world rankings and Spain standing at eighth, the odds suggest that the French team is considered a slight underdog in this highly anticipated match.

It’s intriguing to note that the odds remain relatively unaffected even after the Spanish team suffered the loss of one of their key midfielders. Both teams were anticipated to reach this stage of the tournament, and though I initially had my focus on Spain, France has managed to astonish me. Despite facing difficulties in scoring goals, they have consistently discovered methods to secure victories.

Will France maintain their winning streak tonight in Munich? Alternatively, will the talented young players from Spain keep their hopes of winning the EURO alive?

Let’s dive into the match!

Is This the Year of the French?

Can Spain Survive Without Pedri?

In the Quarterfinals, Pedri sustained an injury that eliminated him from the tournament.

In the 10th minute of their quarterfinal clash with Germany, Pedri suffered a knee injury that forced him out of the game. Unfortunately, he would not be able to make a comeback. Although this setback is significant for the Spanish team, I remain unconcerned. Dani Olmo, who replaced the injured Pedri, swiftly stepped up and netted the first goal in the 51st minute.

Despite Pedri’s absence, Spain possesses the necessary ball skills and composure to maintain possession, make progress when opportunities arise, and effectively convert chances. Throughout the tournament, they have demonstrated a prolific scoring ability, while their defensive line remains resilient. With three shutouts and a mere two goals conceded in five matches, Spain’s backline has been formidable. Meanwhile, their offensive prowess has already resulted in 11 goals.

Advantage Spain

In my opinion, this is where I believe they possess a small edge.

France has struggled to find the back of the net throughout the tournament. Their victory over Austria came from an own goal, they failed to score against the Dutch, and their only goal against Poland came from a penalty kick. In the Round of 16, they managed to survive against Belgium thanks to another own goal in the 85th minute. Their match against Portugal ended goalless, but they advanced through penalty kicks.

In summary, despite having not scored a goal themselves, their offense has relied on two own goals and a penalty kick to find the net. However, in order to compete with Spain, I believe they will need to score legitimately. The Spanish team exhibits fearless soccer, fearlessly playing the ball wide and utilizing their wingers to send dangerous crosses into the box from both sides. Ultimately, I predict that Spain will eventually manage to break through.

Since the beginning of the tournament (+800), Spain has been my favored team and an injury to Pedri does not alter that. With their strong depth, excellent coaching, and outstanding performance in EURO, I firmly believe Spain will advance.

Will Morata be able to rise to the occasion and score today?

Best Bets: Spain Draw No Bet (-120) BetOnline

I have placed a half unit bet on Spain PK or draw no bet because I believe they will win within the regular 90 minutes of the game. Additionally, I am also betting on Spain to advance at a similar price. As I mentioned earlier, in order to defeat Spain, the opposing team will need to score goals. Spain has successfully scored in every match and has only conceded an average of 0.4 goals per game. Their defense is solid and difficult to penetrate, making it a concern for the opposing team’s defensive strategy.

I believe France lacks an aggressive approach, which could ultimately lead to their downfall. It seems unlikely that they will be able to prevent Spain from scoring throughout the entire 90 minutes, so they will need to score themselves. However, if they play too defensively, Spain is likely to take the lead and put the French in a difficult position.

If their aggression backfires, Spain could easily exploit the situation and launch counter attacks. I’m prepared to sacrifice a unit to witness Spain progress, and if they manage to achieve victory within 90 minutes, it’ll be a cause for great celebration.
