Are Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz the rulers of the tennis world, while everyone else merely exists in it? After triumphing in the initial two Grand Slam tournaments of the year, these two exceptionally talented young players are considered the frontrunners in the Wimbledon men’s singles competition.
Sinner achieved his breakthrough in Grand Slam tournaments in January by staging an impressive comeback against Daniil Medvedev in the Australian Open final, overturning a two-set deficit to claim victory.
Despite his loss in the semifinals against Alcaraz after leading two sets to one, he found solace in becoming the new ATP singles rankings leader. This achievement was made possible by his impressive performance and Novak Djokovic’s unfortunate withdrawal from the tournament due to injury.
After securing a triumphant five-set victory against Alexander Zverev in the final, Alcaraz claimed his initial French Open championship and third Grand Slam singles title. Now, his sights are set on defending his Wimbledon title, which he clinched last year in a thrilling five-set match against Djokovic.
Entering the first round, he is considered the second favorite for the title, with only Sinner ahead of him. Alongside Alcaraz, Sinner, and Djokovic, he is one of the few players with odds shorter than +1600. The first round begins tomorrow morning.

Who Are the Favorites for the Wimbledon Men’s Singles Title?
In the past few years, Djokovic has triumphed in four Grand Slam tournaments (2022 Wimbledon, 2023 Australian Open, 2023 French Open, 2023 US Open), while Alcaraz emerged victorious in (2022 US Open, 2023 Wimbledon, 2024 French Open), and Sinner secured the title at the 2024 Australian Open. Together, these three players have dominated the last eight Grand Slam men’s singles championships.
After Djokovic endured a torn meniscus during his match against Francisco Cerundolo in the fourth round of the French Open, his fitness has become a matter of uncertainty. However, the fact that he managed to secure a victory in that match before ultimately withdrawing from the tournament, and is now participating in Wimbledon less than a month later, serves as a significant indicator of his current and future condition.
The title race seems limited to Sinner, Alcaraz, or Djokovic, making it difficult to imagine anyone else winning. However, if there is a surprise, the most intriguing contender would be Draper, the highest-ranked British male singles player.

While the majority of the players anticipated to be Wimbledon favorites or contenders have already established themselves, there is one exception: Draper. Just a fortnight ago, the 22-year-old triumphed in Stuttgart, securing his first ATP Tour title by defeating Berrettini, who had reached the Wimbledon finals earlier this year, in a thrilling three-set match.
Draper is the 28th seed in the Wimbledon men’s singles draw, and his quarter features #4 seed Zverev, #13 seed Fritz, and 2022 Wimbledon semifinalist Norrie, who is unseeded and has been usurped as the British #1 after being seeded #19 at the Australian Open and #32 at the French Open.
Draper’s most successful Grand Slam performance thus far was his fourth-round appearance in the US Open last year. However, he has not progressed beyond the second round in any other Grand Slam event, with the exception of the US Open, where he also reached the third round in 2022.
However, his chances are looking good as Zverev has not made it further than the fourth round at Wimbledon and Fritz has only reached the fourth round once, in 2022 when he made it to the quarterfinals.
Should Draper successfully defeat Norrie in the second round, he has the potential to be a notable contender in the tournament during its second week.
