McLaren’s two mystery driver signings now revealed after Zak Brown tease

McLaren have added two young drivers to their junior ranks in Alex Dunne and Martinius Stenshorne, bolstering their driver programme.

McLaren CEO Zak Brown had admitted recently he couldn’t remember if the team had announced the arrivals of the two young talents or not when discussing their young driver programme, but he can now rest with the fact it is now public knowledge.

At the moment, Dunne and Stenshorne, who are both 18 years old, are participating in the FIA Formula 3 series. They have both demonstrated their impressive skills as they climbed up the motorsport ranks.

Dunne, a talented young Irish driver, achieved great success in 2022 by winning the British F4 championship title. Additionally, he secured second place finishes in both the Italian F4 and GB3 championships in the previous season, showcasing his impressive skills. As a result of his remarkable performances, Dunne made the transition to F3.

In the meantime, Stenshorne has achieved numerous international karting titles and secured three podium finishes in the UAE, German, and Italian F4 championships.

McLaren utilizes their development program to not only supply talent for Formula 1, but also to support their IndyCar, Formula E, and Extreme E teams.

Stephanie Carlin, the director of F1 business operations at McLaren, who is responsible for managing the team’s development programme, expressed her satisfaction in welcoming Alex and Martinius to our Driver Development programme.

Both of them are promising and thrilling young talents in the world of motorsport. They have demonstrated their skills and accomplishments on the track in their respective junior categories, including this year’s FIA Formula 3 Championship.
