Rangers Agree to Terms with Matthew Robertson

The President and General Manager of the New York Rangers, Chris Drury, revealed today that the team has reached an agreement with defenseman Matthew Robertson to extend his contract for one year.

In the 2023-24 season, Robertson, aged 23, showcased his skills as he played in 68 games for the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League (AHL). Throughout the season, he contributed four goals and 17 assists, accumulating a total of 21 points. Among his fellow Wolf Pack defensemen, Robertson secured the second-highest number of games played, ranked third in assists and points, tied for third in goals, and claimed the top spot in shots on goal with an impressive 131 attempts.

During his time with Hartford, the hockey player from Edmonton, Alberta has accumulated a total of 55 points (10 goals and 45 assists) in 190 games over three seasons. Additionally, he has contributed with one assist in ten Calder Cup Playoff games throughout his career. Standing at 6-4 and weighing 209 pounds, this defenseman achieved personal bests in the AHL during the 2022-23 regular season, scoring 5 goals, providing 18 assists, and accumulating 23 points.

Robertson was originally selected by the Blueshirts in the second round, 49th overall, of the 2019 NHL Draft.
