Keyshawn Davis, the renowned lightweight contender, has finally identified his desired opponent for his upcoming bout.
The 25-year-old boxer, who has a record of 11 wins and no losses with 7 knockouts, recently competed in a thrilling 10-round match against Miguel Madueno. Although Davis emerged as the clear victor, he faced relentless pressure throughout the bout. Additionally, Davis showcased his ability to withstand rough encounters, as demonstrated by a fiery altercation in the sixth round where Madueno even landed a shot on referee David Franciosi.
Davis, always brimming with confidence, took to Instagram yesterday (July 12) to address his followers and reveal the fighter he desires to face in his next bout.
“Davis insisted, ‘Frank Martin, we need to make a run for it.'”
I mean no offense, but how about we settle this through a fight? The fans are eager to witness it, and it would undoubtedly be an intense battle. We could even make it the main event and hold it in Vegas. Both of us have recently delivered exceptional performances.
He persisted, emphasizing, “The moment is upon us. There’s no reason for us to delay any further. This is the perfect time to engage in combat. We should provide the spectators with the spectacle they desire. There’s no need for excessive trash-talking. We both command respect. Let’s settle this in the ring, let’s fight. We have a shared history. I am eager to face Frank Martin.”
In the previous month, Martin (18-1, 12 KOs) encountered his most challenging opponent so far by going up against Gervonta “Tank” Davis for the WBA world lightweight title. Ultimately, the fight concluded in the eighth round with a knockout win for the reigning champion. However, it is worth noting that all three judges had Davis leading by just one point (67-66) on the scorecards at the moment of the fight’s conclusion.
A year ago, Martin and Davis engaged in a heated argument in Las Vegas while attending the Terence Crawford-Errol Spence Jr fight week. The conversation quickly escalated, and after a few minutes of intense exchange, they parted ways. However, Davis managed to accomplish his goal and left an impression in Martin’s mind.
At present, Martin is engaged in boxing matches affiliated with the Premier Boxing Champions organization, whereas Davis competes in fights organized by Top Rank promotions.
