Aces vs Dream Prediction & Picks (5/31): Are the Champs on Upset Alert in Atlanta?

Tonight at 7:00 pm ET, A’ja Wilson of the Las Vegas Aces will face the Atlanta Dream at the Gateway Center in College Park. In their previous encounter, which took place last August, Wilson achieved an impressive feat by tying the WNBA single-game scoring record with 53 points. It leaves us wondering what extraordinary performance she has in store for their first matchup of the season.

After an unexpected loss to the Phoenix Mercury at home ten days ago, Wilson has played a crucial role in guiding the Aces (4-1) back on the right path. Last Saturday, she delivered an impressive performance with 29 points and 15 rebounds, leading the team to victory against the Indiana Fever. Continuing her outstanding form, Wilson replicated the same remarkable stat line in Wednesday’s triumph over the Minnesota Lynx.

The Dream (3-2) face a challenging task tonight as they aim to secure back-to-back wins for the first time this season. Despite their hard-fought 73-67 triumph against winless Washington on Wednesday, they must significantly improve their offensive performance to have any chance of upsetting the Aces, who currently lead the WNBA in scoring.

Las Vegas Aces vs Atlanta Dream Betting Analysis

Did the loss to the Mercury serve as the necessary catalyst for the Aces to find their best form again?

Despite having won 17 games by 20 or more points out of their 42 regular season and postseason victories, the Aces have not completely dominated an opponent. However, their recent triumphs against the Fever and Lynx reflect their typical level of performance.

The Aces achieved a remarkable 19-point victory against Indiana, scoring an impressive season-high of 99 points and sinking 13 three-pointers. In their recent triumph over the Lynx, the Aces’ defense shined as they limited Minnesota to a mere 36.9% shooting from the field and forced 16 turnovers.

If the Dream can deliver on the offensive end, they have a chance to compete with the Aces. However, it won’t be an easy task.

The team struggled in their game against the Mystics, shooting below par with only a 41.9% field goal percentage and 28.6% from three-point range. Furthermore, they committed 17 turnovers. Rhyne Howard, who usually leads the team in scoring, had a rough game as well. She missed all six of her three-point attempts, converted only 2 of 11 shots from the field, and finished with a season-low 11 points.

However, even if Howard and the Dream do get back on track on the offensive end, the Aces appear to have woken up. Look for the champs to record their third straight double-digit win and beat Atlanta for the sixth straight time and the 11th time in 12 meetings.
