With qualifying complete at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, we now have our final grid for the 2024 staging of the Indy 500.

On the first day of qualifying, positions 13-30 were finalized, but the excitement continued into Sunday as teams fought for the pole position and secure their spots on the starting grid.

Scott McLaughlin on pole for 2024 Indy 500

Scott McLaughlin’s remarkable performance in the Firestone Fast Six, with an impressive average speed of 234.220, earned him the coveted P1 grid slot, crowning him as the new Indy 500 polesitter.

The entire Team Penske had a memorable day as their three drivers secured the front row. Will Power will start from P2, while Josef Newgarden will begin from P3.

On the opposite side, Marcus Ericsson, having participated in 97 F1 races so far, encountered a formidable challenge to secure a spot on the starting grid. Nevertheless, he managed to make it through and now faces a daunting task starting from P32, with a lot of work ahead of him.

In the starting lineup, Alexander Rossi from Arrow McLaren holds the highest position among former F1 drivers, securing P4. Meanwhile, Takuma Sato, a former driver for Honda and Super Aguri, commences the race from P10.

For the 2024 Indy 500, Romain Grosjean, who has stood on the Formula 1 podium 10 times, begins from the lowly position of P26.

Next Sunday’s 108th running of the Indy 500 will feature the complete starting order. Let’s take a look at it.
