After delay, Okposo gets to hoist Stanley Cup in hometown
After enduring a global IT outage, the Panthers forward patiently waits until he finally gets his hands on the trophy.
Kyle Okposo waited 17 NHL seasons to get his hands on the Stanley Cup. A few more hours weren’t going to hurt.
Despite a significant global IT outage on Friday that resulted in the grounding of numerous flights, including the Cup’s, the Florida Panthers forward managed to eventually raise the trophy. Unfortunately, Okposo’s previously scheduled event had to be cancelled due to the ensuing chaos.
Similar to the Panthers’ performance in the 2023-24 season, Okposo’s determination would not allow him to miss out on winning the Cup.

In front of a general store adorned with a Panthers banner in his hometown of St. Paul, Minnesota, the seasoned forward proudly showcased the trophy.
After what must have been an exhausting day, Phil Pritchard, the Keeper of the Cup from the Hockey Hall of Fame, graciously shared the photo.
Still, Okposo and a group of locals managed to make the most out of the situation. Like him and countless others would agree, it’s always worth the wait when it comes to finally getting your hands on the Cup.
