Uriah Hall vs. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. squared off in a 200-pound contest earlier tonight (Sat. July 20, 2024) from Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida for the Jake Paul vs. Mike Perry-headlined “Fear No Man” boxing event, streaming on DAZN pay-per-view (PPV). After a competitive fight, Chavez Jr. was named the victor.

Chavez Jr. began the fight with great momentum. Hall was the aggressor, but he didn’t throw many punches, mainly relying on single jabs. On the other hand, Chavez Jr. was more active with his jab and used it as a foundation for his attacks. He frequently targeted Hall’s body, which then allowed him to follow up with effective left hooks. Chavez Jr. successfully landed those hooks a few times and also directed powerful punches towards Hall’s body.

In response to the challenging opening round, Hall increased his intensity and switched to the Southpaw stance. Despite his efforts, he struggled to locate Chavez Jr., who maintained his mobility and occasionally landed powerful swings or body jabs on Hall. However, Hall did make some progress in the latter part of the round, delivering lengthier combinations and achieving improved outcomes.

Chavez Jr. displayed his dominance in the early rounds, consistently landing jabs and outperforming Hall. Nonetheless, an intriguing moment occurred near the end of the third round when Hall fiercely clenched his mouthguard and engaged in a heated brawl. Hall carried this momentum into the fourth round, despite enduring some body shots, as he unleashed close-range combinations and capitalized on Chavez Jr.’s decreasing speed. In a surprising move, Hall even resorted to an illegal single-collar tie, reminiscent of MMA, and managed to land a few uppercuts.

In a significant turn of events, the fifth round marked a considerable change. Chavez Jr.’s pace noticeably decreased, allowing Hall to capitalize on this opportunity. Both fighters engaged in a fierce exchange, standing face-to-face, intensifying the excitement of the round. With the stakes heightened, the sixth and final round approached with a greater sense of anticipation.

It was a close call as Chavez Jr. appeared to regain his energy, displaying better movement and successfully connecting with well-executed looping counters. Hall faced difficulties during the initial half of the sixth round, but he managed to elevate his performance during the latter half and achieved some positive results. Notably, Hall landed a solid left hook on Chavez Jr. while the latter was backed against the ropes.

Overall, Hall’s performance was satisfactory while Chavez Jr.’s was disappointing. Despite not displaying typical boxing skills, Hall successfully maintained proximity to the former champion. Although Chavez Jr. emerged as the winner, his punches lacked significant impact, and he eventually became fatigued, resulting in a bruised face.

A performance like that won’t be enough to earn a face-off against Jake Paul.
