A JUBILANT Tyler Denny is now looking to bigger and more financially rewarding fights after defeating Felix Cash last night in Birmingham.
In a major milestone for his career, Denny (19-2-3, 1 KO) successfully defended his European middleweight title by claiming a fifth-round technical decision. The decisive moment came after Cash sustained a cut due to an unintentional head clash, resulting in the ruling favoring Denny. This victory stands as the most significant triumph for the 32-year-old thus far.
Denny, who was promoted by Boxxer, showcased his skills on a Matchroom promotion. Undoubtedly, this victory brought added joy to his promoter, Ben Shalom, who was present at the Resorts World Arena to support his fighter. Shalom shared after the fight that Denny has another exciting opportunity lined up for September 28.
“I’ve got a lot catching up to do because this is my first fight this year,” Denny told Boxing News.
“I had initially anticipated fighting either at the end of February or the beginning of March. However, due to the completion of the purse bids, our fight got delayed, and we were left uncertain about the exact date. Eventually, the fight took place at the end of June, which didn’t sit well with us initially. Nevertheless, we recognized that Felix needed as much time as he required.”
The Wordsley-born southpaw, though aware that Chris Eubank Jr may not be the next opponent, is open to a match against someone from his own region.
I don’t believe that will happen. And I completely understand why. If I were Chris Eubank Jr, I would want pay-per-view and high-profile fights, so I’m not being unrealistic. However, if the opportunity for that fight arises, I will definitely accept it, along with the support of my fans.
Denny, the European champion, shares the BCB Promotions stable with Nathan Heaney, who currently holds the British middleweight title. Heaney’s upcoming challenge is to defeat Brad Pauls on July 20, in their rematch after their initial bout ended in a draw back in March.
Denny declared, “I am ready to take on Heaney at any time.”
I have a favorable opinion of him, but if we are able to invest a large sum of money, he can earn a significant amount, and I can also earn a substantial income. In that case, we can definitely arrange for the fight. However, he must first have a rematch with Brad Pauls, and I don’t want to undermine Brad Pauls because their initial fight was commendable. Nevertheless, I have a good relationship with Nathan, and if we can make the British and European titles part of the stakes, then I am completely on board.
