The 2023-24 NHL postseason has reached the end stretch as the Stanley Cup Final is set to begin on Saturday. This year’s matchup is a star-studded affair as Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers prepare to go head-to-head against Matthew Tkachuk’s Florida Panthers.

Similar to all championship matchups, the Stanley Cup Final presents numerous exciting NHL betting prospects, particularly in the prop markets. These proposition bets, commonly referred to as props, focus on individual or team performances rather than the game or series outcome. For instance, you can place bets on who will emerge as the top scorer in this round.

Finding the perfect prop can be tricky, though, which is why Betting News is here to help. Settle in as we take a look at the three best Oilers vs. Panthers series props ahead of the 2024 Stanley Cup Final.

NHL Stanley Cup Final: 3 Must-Bet Oilers vs Panthers Series Props

All Oilers vs. Panthers NHL Stanley Cup Final 2024 prop odds are courtesy of BetOnline as of Wednesday, June 5 at 10:59 a.m. ET.

1. Most Points in Series — Connor McDavid (+125)

This year’s Stanley Cup showdown is littered with world-class talent. While several players are among the best that the NHL has to offer, none are better than Connor McDavid, who’s a great pick to lead this series in points (+125).

Ever since his NHL debut in 2015, McDavid has been dominating the league with an impressive total of 982 points, surpassing the next-best player by a staggering 141 points. In the regular season alone, he accumulated an outstanding 132 points. Now, as a three-time Hart Memorial Trophy winner, McDavid continues to shine in the playoffs, currently leading the pack with 31 points in 18 games.

It is highly likely that McDavid will emerge as the leading point scorer, regardless of the outcome of the series for the Oilers. With his ability to score goals or assist his teammates, he constantly poses a threat on the ice. It would not be surprising if he surpasses his peers in points once more.

Despite facing tough competition from other players, McDavid is expected to remain competitive until the very end.

2. Total Overtime Games — 1 (+150)

The NHL truly knows how to deliver an unforgettable playoff experience, especially when overtime comes into play. Witnessing two teams battling it out for a crucial goal that could determine the fate of the series is an unparalleled thrill. And when the prestigious Stanley Cup is at stake, the intensity reaches new heights, creating an electrifying atmosphere.

As for this series, I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw just one overtime game (+150).

Both teams have had their fair share of overtime in the playoffs this year. The Oilers have had one overtime game in each of their first series, while the Panthers had four games that went into overtime, with three of them occurring in the Eastern Conference Finals. On average, that’s 1.3 overtime games per series.

In three out of the last five Stanley Cup Finals, only one game went into overtime. Last year, the Panthers played against the Vegas Golden Knights and emerged victorious in that game. Now, it remains to be seen if this prior experience will prove beneficial in the current scenario.

Given the immense talent of both the Oilers and Panthers, it wouldn’t surprise me if at least one game ends up in overtime.

3. Total Shutouts — 0 (-170)

Although this NHL prop isn’t as valuable as the other two, it’s a no-brainer to bet that this series won’t see any shutouts (-170).

These clubs have not seen many shutout victories this preseason, with the Oilers and Panthers only managing to secure one shutout win. In the first round, Edmonton triumphed with a 1-0 victory over the Los Angeles Kings, but since then, they have played 14 consecutive games without a shutout. On the other hand, Florida has yet to successfully prevent their playoff opponents from scoring.

Consistently shutting down these teams is a challenge due to their abundance of talent. Since the start of 2024, the Panthers have been unable to score only on three occasions, while the Oilers have been shut out only thrice since the beginning of the season, with the most recent occurrence being on April 3.

Considering the inconsistent performances of Stuart Skinner and Sergei Bobrovsky in the playoffs, it’s no surprise that shutouts are not expected. It’s highly likely that both the Oilers and Panthers will manage to score at least one goal per game, unless they completely lose their grasp on playing hockey.
