Although Ty Gibbs failed to capitalize on his pole position in yesterday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Charlotte Motor Speedway, he has another opportunity in today’s Coca-Cola 600 (6:00 pm ET, FOX) to secure his first Cup Series victory in one of the series’ prestigious races.
Gibbs had a disappointing finish in yesterday’s BetMGM 300, starting up front but ending up in ninth place. However, there is still hope for him to redeem himself as he aims to turn his first pole in a points race into his first win. Despite the setback, Gibbs has been having a solid second Cup Series season, evident in his recent pole and victory in the All-Star Open. Currently sitting in seventh place in the overall standings after 13 races, Gibbs is coming off a second-place finish at Darlington just two weeks ago.
Kyle Larson, currently leading the standings, maintains a 30-point advantage over Martin Truex Jr. Despite his victory in the 2021 Coca-Cola 600, this achievement will not contribute to his championship campaign this season. Larson had endeavored to compete in both the Indianapolis 500 and the Coca-Cola 600 on the same day, but unfavorable weather conditions at Indy caused a delay, potentially limiting him to solely racing at the Brickyard today.
Justin Allgaier, who currently holds the fourth position in the Xfinity Series standings, will be participating in a Cup race for the first time since the 2022 YellaWood 500 at Talladega.
Larson might require a waiver to qualify for this season’s playoffs in the near future. According to the existing regulations, drivers must participate in all 26 regular season races to be eligible for the playoffs.
Regarding the playoffs, will Gibbs or another driver nearly secure their spot tonight? In the previous race, Brad Keselowski accomplished just that by securing his first victory in more than three years.

Coca-Cola 600 Predictions & Picks
So far this season, Hendrick Motorsports and Joe Gibbs Racing have emerged as the leading teams, winning 10 out of the first 13 races. Their drivers currently hold six out of the top seven positions in the standings.
Will the streak of dominance carry over to Charlotte? Both Hendrick and JGR have secured the top three rows of the starting lineup. William Byron will be alongside Gibbs on the front row, followed by Christopher Bell in third, Martin Truex Jr. in fourth, Chase Elliott in fifth, and Alex Bowman in sixth.
If you need a reliable choice to support for the victory, the six drivers mentioned are your best options. Among them, Byron stands out as my top pick, having secured second place in last year’s Coca-Cola 600 and leading the Cup Series with three wins this season. I am confident in his potential to secure a top-three finish (+200 at Bovada) and a top-five finish (evens at Bovada), so I recommend locking him in for those positions.
Bovada is offering a unique opportunity with the availability of top 20 finishing position odds for the Coca-Cola 600. This presents a chance to find good value without relying on a driver’s exceptional performance. While the bigger names may not offer great odds, I find Harrison Burton (+140), Austin Cindric (-135), and Austin Dillon (-110) to be noteworthy options.
