Things went from cordial to downright hostile between Conor McGregor and Mike Perry after “Platinum” lost to Jake Paul via sixth-round technical knockout (TKO) last night (Sat., July 20, 2024) in Tampa, Florida (see it again here).
Shortly after the event was over, Conor McGregor — who recently became part owner of Bareknuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC) — proclaimed he would be firing Perry for his dreadful performance in a scathing rant aimed at “The King of Violence” and Paul himself.
During the post-fight presser, Perry responded to his alleged dismissal, saying McGregor doesn’t have the power to determine whether he returns to BKFC or not. Furthermore, he also questioned why McGregor has never accepted none of “El Gallo’s” challenges to box.
“He doesn’t f*cking have a promotion,” Perry said (via MMA Fighting). “Me and him are both owners of BKFC, so he can’t fire me. We can fight in bare-knuckle. Look at me, I lost to Jake Paul. Why don’t you go fight Jake Paul in boxing with the gloves on? I think it would be worse than Conor McGregor vs. [Floyd] Mayweather.”
Paul once against took his opportunity to call out “Notorious” — and Alex Pereira — after his latest boxing conquest. However, as well know, those two fights are unlikely to ever happen since they are locked down to UFC contracts. Of course, White did let “Notorious” crossover one time to fight Floyd Mayweather, but the chances of that happening again are slim to none.
Of course, once “Notorious” ends his time with UFC — he has two fights left on his contract — then perhaps we can see him face off against the former Disney channel star inside the boxing ring once and for all.
