When and why you started boxing:

From a young age, I had a strong affinity for sports. However, it was not until I discovered the Rocky films at the age of 13 that I truly developed a passion for boxing. I managed to convince a friend from school to join me in trying it out. Although my friend eventually lost interest and quit after a few sessions, my dedication to boxing only grew stronger.

Favourite all-time fighter:

I am a huge fan of Sugar Ray Leonard and thoroughly enjoy watching his fights. He truly captivates me with his electrifying speed and exceptional footwork, making him an incredibly thrilling fighter.

Best fight you’ve seen:

If we’re talking about classic matchups, I’d go with Sugar Ray Leonard versus Thomas Hearns. However, in more recent times, the fight between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano was an incredible display of women’s boxing.

Personal career highlight:

After securing my first ABA title for Birtley Boxing Club, numerous opportunities came knocking at my door. One of the most significant was an assessment for GB boxing, which further fueled my determination to make boxing my life.

Toughest opponent:

Having participated in tournaments worldwide, I have had the opportunity to face some of the most skilled female boxers, making me well-acquainted with formidable opponents.

Best and worst attributes as a boxer:

In my opinion, my greatest strength lies in my versatility. I have dedicated considerable effort to honing my skills as a versatile fighter. However, on the flip side, I must admit that I have a tendency to overthink situations and be excessively self-critical, which can hinder my progress at times.

Training tip:

Ensure that you put in your best efforts, while also finding pleasure in the work you do. Have faith in the process, knowing that it will bring about positive outcomes.

Favourite meal/restaurant:

I could eat cereal all day long, from morning till night.

Best friend in boxing:

I am incredibly thankful for the opportunity to have shared my journey with my former Team GB housemates, Shona Whitwell and Kerry Davis. Despite the intense training sessions, we always managed to find ways to laugh and have fun.

Which other athlete would you like to be?

During my upbringing, Jessica Ennis always held my admiration. She embodied the epitome of an all-round athlete and served as a remarkable source of inspiration for me.

Last film/TV show you saw:

I’ve recently begun watching the new series of Kin and Black Mirror on Netflix. They are absolutely fantastic.

Who would play you in a film of your life?

In school, it was a common belief among my peers that I bore a striking resemblance to Hannah Montana, and by extension, Miley Cyrus.

One thing you would change about professional boxing?

In my opinion, increasing the number of judges to five instead of three would result in more equitable scoring and fewer contentious decisions.

Have you ever been starstruck?

Actually, not really. However, I must admit that training alongside Anthony Joshua when I first joined Team GB felt quite surreal back then.

Last time you cried:

Losing a boxing match is something I despise, and it might have been the last time it happened.

Best advice received:

Make it a habit to express gratitude and value the individuals, moments, and possessions that enrich your life.

Worst rumour about yourself:

Hopefully, there isn’t any.

Something not many people know about you.

I hold a black belt in taekwondo and am currently pursuing a Masters Degree in Sports Nutrition.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years:

If I were to achieve my dream of becoming a multi-weight world champion, I would likely retire at that point. Nevertheless, boxing will forever hold a significant place in my life. I am passionate about coaching and utilizing my expertise to assist others in achieving their goals. Additionally, my nutrition degree will serve me well in the post-boxing phase of my life.
