A testament to the high standards and fearless leadership of its Editor Matt Christie, Boxing News, the world’s oldest boxing magazine, dominated this year’s Boxing Writers Association of America (BWAA) Awards, winning four of the six awards and securing one Second-Place finish and two Third-Place finishes.
Up against the best writers and publications in the sport today, there were big wins for Elliot Worsell, Thomas Hauser, Jack Hirsch, Matt Christie, and Oliver Fennell, as well as an honourable mention for regular BN contributor Lewis Watson.
Two years ago, Worsell was honored with the First Place award in the Boxing Investigative Reporting category. This time, Worsell achieved First Place rankings in the three categories: Boxing Event Coverage, Boxing Feature (over 1,500 words), and Boxing Feature (under 1,500 words).
He also placed second in the Boxing Investigative Reporting category for his piece, I Am the Referee: An Investigation of the British Boxing Board of Control’s Process for Appointing New Referees.

In the category of Boxing Investigative Reporting, Thomas Hauser, a highly respected and seasoned writer in the sport, was awarded First-Place recognition. This well-deserved honor acknowledges his commendable dedication to uncovering the truth behind the recent Conor Benn performance-enhancing drug controversy.
