Here are the complete results from the second free practice session (FP2) at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix at the historic Imola circuit.
After topping the morning session in the upgraded Ferrari SF-24, Charles Leclerc once again set the pace in FP2 at Imola.
FP2 results from the 2024 Emilia Romagna Grand Prix
McLaren driver Oscar Piastri fell short by only 0.192 seconds to claim the top spot, as the Monegasque’s fastest time of 1:15.969 secured him first place.
Yuki Tsunoda displayed an impressive performance for the Red Bull junior team, securing third place and finishing just 0.380s behind Leclerc. Notably, he outperformed Mercedes drivers Lewis Hamilton and George Russell, who came in fourth and fifth positions respectively.
Carlos Sainz, who is Leclerc’s team-mate at Ferrari and won the Australian Grand Prix, finished in sixth place.
Max Verstappen, the current leader of the World Championship, encountered a challenging morning session as he veered off track on two occasions at Variante Alta and Acque Minerale.
The Red Bull driver once again faced difficulties in adapting to the Imola circuit. They encountered a setback by dipping a wheel into the gravel at the exit of the Villeneuve chicane, and later ended up in the gravel again at Rivazza.

Verstappen, having faced a slow-moving Hamilton on his subsequent try, would eventually secure the seventh position, surpassing his team-mate Sergio Perez by one spot.
In a show of aggression, Verstappen veered towards Hamilton, while the Mercedes driver responded by raising a hand in apology.
In the closing minutes of the session, Perez found himself caught up in a traffic controversy, impeding Leclerc in the first sector.
Before reaching Tosa, Leclerc expressed his dissatisfaction over the team radio and then positioned himself alongside the Red Bull driver.
Nico Hulkenberg, the driver for Haas, and Fernando Alonso from Aston Martin, finished in the top 10.
After making a mistake on his lap, Lando Norris, who emerged victorious in the previous race held in Miami, had to settle for 12th place.
After dominating the first two sectors, Norris showcased McLaren’s potential by maintaining a lead of over half a second ahead of Leclerc.
