The Miami Grand Prix track.
Sprint qualifying is complete at the Miami Grand Prix, with Max Verstappen at the head of the grid for the second Sprint event of F1 2024.
Following the successful inaugural F1 Sprint weekend in China, the format made a comeback in Miami. The drivers swiftly transitioned into qualifying proceedings after a mere hour of practice.
In the first qualifying session, Williams drivers Alex Albon and Logan Sargeant failed to advance, along with Sauber’s Valtteri Bottas and Zhou Guanyu, as well as Alpine’s Pierre Gasly.
Mercedes duo George Russell and Lewis Hamilton experienced a shocking double elimination in SQ2, alongside Esteban Ocon, Kevin Magnussen, and Yuki Tsunoda.
After dominating the race until SQ3, McLaren’s Lando Norris and his team suffered a significant setback when they switched to soft tyres, allowing Max Verstappen to seize the pole position for the Miami Sprint.
