The revelation of Eddie Jordan’s impact on Adrian Newey’s departure from Red Bull has surfaced.

Eddie Jordan has dropped a huge hint that retirement is “likely” to be Adrian Newey’s next move after it emerged that the former team owner had a surprise role in the F1 design guru’s Red Bull exit.

On Wednesday morning, it was officially declared that Newey will be departing from Red Bull in early 2025, marking the conclusion of his incredibly prosperous 19-year tenure with the team headquartered in Milton Keynes.

The confirmation of his departure comes amid rumours that the 65-year-old has received contract offers from Aston Martin and Ferrari, with Italian publication La Gazzetta dello Sport claiming Newey has met with team principal Fred Vasseur over a potential move to Maranello.

According to the report, Ferrari might potentially reveal the signing of Newey following the conclusion of the Miami Grand Prix this weekend.

According to recent reports, it has been revealed that Jordan, the former F1 team boss, was responsible for Newey’s departure. In the Red Bull statement announcing his exit, Newey specifically expressed gratitude towards Jordan, referring to him as “his close friend and manager.”

Jacques Villenueve finds real reason why he thinks Adrian Newey left Red Bull

It is believed that Newey and Jordan have successfully managed to accomplish a major achievement by enabling Newey to break free from a Red Bull contract that was initially supposed to last until the end of the 2025 season. This move potentially grants Newey the opportunity to commence work with another team sooner than expected.

According to Jordan on his Formula For Success podcast, retirement seems to be the most probable outcome for Newey. In fact, Newey recently embarked on a new adventure by commissioning a yacht with the goal of sailing around the world, further indicating his inclination towards retiring.

According to Jordan, Newey might consider taking a break and pursuing a different lifestyle, potentially marking the end of his successful Formula 1 career.

He reminded us that he had experienced continuous pressure during his time at Red Bull.

“If he decides to take a break and relax for a bit, I believe everyone would understand and it seems more probable than him immediately pursuing any other job opportunities.”

“There have been some slight changes as he has aged a bit.”

He has a fantastic team with exceptional drivers and skilled personnel. It would be wise for him to consider seeking a change in life and exploring future opportunities.

The anticipated departure of Newey is expected to heighten the speculation surrounding the future of Max Verstappen, the reigning three-time World Champion from Red Bull. Given the ongoing turmoil within the team, Verstappen has been strongly linked with a potential move to Mercedes.

Having warned following the season-opening Bahrain Grand Prix that Red Bull was “in danger of being torn apart” if under-pressure team principal Christian Horner remained in his position, Verstappen’s father Jos claimed his prediction is now coming true in giving his reaction to Newey’s bombshell.

Verstappen Sr expressed his concerns to Dutch publication De Telegraaf, stating, “There is a real risk of the team disintegrating. I had already sensed this fear earlier in the year.”

Currently, the situation does not align with the crucial need for key individuals to remain committed for the sake of internal harmony.

“Newey’s departure is imminent, and earlier this year there were speculations about Helmut [Marko, Red Bull adviser] facing a potential departure as well.”

“That is not good for the future.”
