Aston Martin have reportedly set their sights on Ferrari’s technical director Enrico Cardile, a key figure in the Scuderia’s recent success.
Although Aston Martin as recently as March were said to have made a multi-million dollar approach for soon-to-be-former Red Bull design guru Adrian Newey, the Silverstone team has now turned their sights to Ferrari’s Cardile.

Cardile has been a loyal member of the Ferrari team since 2005 when he joined their GT Championship-related projects. In 2016, he transitioned to the Formula 1 team and took on the role of vehicle project manager in the subsequent year.
This 49-year-old individual has played a crucial part in Ferrari’s revival, as evidenced by the victories of both Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc on the racetrack this year.
Ferrari’s impressive performance has propelled them to second place in the Constructors’ Championship, trailing Red Bull by only 24 points. This achievement has sparked anticipation for a potential title battle.

Having failed in their bid to sign Newey, who according to reports could be joining Ferrari next season, Motorsport.com reports that Aston Martin have “approached” the Italian.

Aston Martin is reportedly making attempts to entice Cardile, as there may be an opportunity for him if he feels unsettled by the potential reduction of his role, claims the publication.
That is reduced due to Newey’s arrival.
The publication mentioned that although it is highly unlikely for Newey to take on any role other than being a super consultant for Ferrari’s 2026 car, his well-known reputation might end up overshadowing the contributions of those individuals within Maranello who have played a crucial role in the team’s recent progress.
Nonetheless, the possibility of Newey joining Ferrari is far from being confirmed.
Eddie Jordan, the manager of the 65-year-old, recently dismissed the Daily Mail’s report stating that Newey’s move to Ferrari has already been confirmed.
On his Formula For Success podcast, Jordan confidently declared, “I can stake my life on it – it’s definitely not accurate.”
At present, we do not have a specific direction in mind. We are open to exploring various opportunities and welcoming individuals to approach us and have discussions.
“It is highly inappropriate to openly speculate about [Newey] joining a particular team, such as Ferrari, in such a blatant manner.”
“I can assure you that I have firsthand knowledge of this matter, and I will not disclose any details. There is absolutely no discussion taking place at any point.”
