Lando Norris said former US president Donald Trump called himself his “lucky charm” after ticking off his first win on Sunday.
In a remarkable display, Norris secured his maiden victory in Formula 1 with utmost finesse during the Miami Grand Prix on Sunday. Starting from sixth place, he astutely seized the opportunity presented by a Safety Car period to make a timely pit stop. This strategic move enabled him to effortlessly distance himself from Max Verstappen in the latter part of the race, ultimately clinching the top spot.

After 110 attempts, Norris finally achieved his first victory in Formula 1 on Sunday, which brought him immense relief. Additionally, this win marked his 16th time on the podium, but the first time he stood on the top step.
But the McLaren garage had a high-profile visitor when the former president was ushered into their surroundings before the race, with McLaren chosen to represent Formula 1 for his visit to the Miami paddock.
Trump is poised to regain the presidency this year, yet he currently finds himself entangled in a legal battle in New York, facing 34 felony charges that he vehemently denies.

When reporters in Miami asked Norris about his thoughts on Trump being in the McLaren garage after the race, he honestly revealed, “To be frank, I didn’t catch a glimpse of him in the garage as I was fully occupied with race preparations.”
However, he spotted me later and approached me to offer his congratulations. I suppose it was an honor because when someone of his caliber takes the time to acknowledge your achievements, it signifies a great honor for both parties involved.
“I don’t know if he will attend future races, but he claimed to be my lucky charm since I won. Anyway, this weekend has been filled with many special and cool individuals.”
Donald is a person whom you must admire and have great respect for in many aspects. Those who recognize your abilities and the hard work you put into things deserve your gratitude, and I am grateful for Donald acknowledging those qualities.
