Charles Leclerc bagged the most important pole of F1 2024 as he prepares to head the grid at his home race, the Monaco Grand Prix.
Leclerc ended the 100 per cent pole position record of Max Verstappen in F1 2024, the Ferrari driver to share the front row with McLaren’s Oscar Piastri.
Charles Leclerc secures third Monaco Grand Prix pole
Carlos Sainz, Leclerc’s teammate at Ferrari, will start from third place, while Lando Norris from McLaren secured fourth place after a highly successful day for both teams.
George Russell from Mercedes will be starting in fifth place, alongside Verstappen. Unfortunately, Verstappen hit the barriers at Sainte Devote in his Red Bull during the crucial final Q3 run.
On the grid, the top 10 positions are occupied by Russell’s team-mate Lewis Hamilton from Mercedes, Yuki Tsunoda from RB, Alex Albon from Williams, and Pierre Gasly from Alpine.

Esteban Ocon from Alpine will spearhead the charge to secure points starting from 11th position on the grid. Accompanying him in the sixth row is Daniel Ricciardo from RB.
Behind them, Lance Stroll and Fernando Alonso of Aston Martin faced consecutive eliminations in Q1.
However, Alonso’s unexpected elimination in Q1 was overshadowed by Red Bull’s Sergio Perez, who will have a challenging Sunday afternoon starting from P16 on the grid. He will be accompanied by Williams’ Logan Sargeant.
