Alonso possesses extensive experience collaborating with Sanchez, having previously worked together at Alpine (formerly Renault), McLaren, and Ferrari. Given the significant personnel changes that Alpine has undergone in the past year, Alonso firmly believes that Sanchez’s inclusion in the team will greatly benefit them.
Nevertheless, Alonso emphasized the significance of fostering a proper team mentality in order for Alpine to enhance their performance. The Enstone squad has currently accumulated a mere two points in the F1 2024 season.
When questioned by various media outlets, including PlanetF1.com, about whether Sanchez is a valuable acquisition for Alpine, Alonso responded by saying, “Yes, he is.”
All the technical directors or senior individuals, as well as designers, in Formula 1 possess an exceptional understanding of the cars. They exhibit utmost professionalism and can greatly enhance any team they are part of.
Alpine will undoubtedly reap the benefits of this, but it is important to note that one individual cannot single-handedly transform a team. It requires collective effort and the creation of a positive momentum within the group. Only time will tell how this will unfold in the future.
However, I am optimistic that Alpine will be able to take a significant leap forward at the moment.
