Ferrari reveal striking new livery for Miami Grand Prix after ‘historic’ deal reached

In Miami, the Ferrari will proudly display the HP branding for the very first time.

Ferrari have unveiled a striking new livery ahead of this weekend’s Miami Grand Prix, revealing a blue colour scheme in a nod to the team’s glorious F1 history.

It emerged last week that Ferrari would add a two-tone blue look to their traditional scarlet-livery for one race only in Miami, celebrating the “connection between Ferrari and the US racing scene” by marking the 70th anniversary of the Italian brand’s presence in North America.

The official colours chosen by Ferrari for this weekend are named Azzurro La Plata, a lighter shade of blue famously sported by the team’s inaugural World Champion Alberto Ascari, and Azzurro Dino, a richer hue previously donned by race suit-clad drivers like Arturo Merzario and Clay Regazzoni until 1974.

In Florida this weekend, drivers Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc, along with the team staff, will be donning blue colours on their helmets, overalls, and kits.

Revealed: The remarkable 36-hour timeline behind Lewis Hamilton’s shock Ferrari move

The blue SF-24 also represents the first sighting of Hewlett-Packard (HP) branding on a Ferrari F1 car after the team announced a “historic” title sponsorship arrangement with the technology giants last week.

After a successful beginning to the F1 2024 season, Ferrari has reached the Miami Grand Prix with a solid performance. The Scuderia currently secures a comfortable second position in the Constructors’ standings, trailing Red Bull by 44 points while enjoying a 55-point lead over McLaren, who holds the third spot.

At four out of the first five races of the new season, The Prancing Horse team has achieved podium finishes. Carlos Sainz, in particular, secured his third career victory at the Australian Grand Prix last month.

Earlier this year, Ferrari made an announcement stating that Lewis Hamilton, the seven-time World Champion, will be joining their team in F1 2025. This decision marked the conclusion of Hamilton’s long and triumphant tenure with Mercedes, as he signed a multi-year contract with Ferrari.

Following Hamilton’s arrival, Adrian Newey, the F1 design legend, announced on Wednesday his departure from Red Bull in early 2025.

Throughout his remarkable career, Newey has often been associated with a potential move to Ferrari, with the most notable instance being his almost imminent joining of the Scuderia a decade ago.

It is believed that Ferrari, along with the Aston Martin team owned by Lawrence Stroll, are among the two teams that have extended a contract offer to Newey. These rival teams are aiming to take advantage of the current uncertainty at Red Bull.
