Adrian Newey and Lewis Hamilton might collaborate at Ferrari.
With Adrian Newey set to leave Red Bull next season and rumoured to be heading to Maranello, Anthony Davidson says that “may well have” triggered Lewis Hamilton’s move to Ferrari.
Last week, it was Newey’s turn to break the internet after Hamilton’s announcement in February that he would leave Mercedes at the end of the season to join Ferrari.
‘Did Adrian figure it out before Lewis signed? Did Lewis sign because of that?’
The celebrated design guru, after an illustrious 19 seasons, clinching 12 championship titles and possibly adding two more with Red Bull, will bid farewell to the team in early 2022.
Last season, Newey, similar to Hamilton, had agreed to a two-year extension, but decided to terminate it prematurely.
It has been speculated that the 65-year-old’s Briton’s next move will be to Italy where he would link up with Hamilton at Ferrari.
The key question remains, if it indeed proves to be true, whether Hamilton was aware prior to his surprising move from Mercedes to Ferrari.

Helmut Marko predicts Adrian Newey’s next F1 team… and it’s not who you think
When asked if Hamilton had any knowledge of Newey potentially joining Ferrari during the signing process, former F1 driver Davidson responded to Sky Sports by saying, “It is possible that he did.”
“Maybe it played a role in prompting Lewis’s unexpected decision to join Ferrari.”
“Mercedes offered Lewis a one-year contract with an option, but Lewis decided to exercise that option and leave for the red suit.”
“Is Adrian present? Did Adrian solve it prior to Lewis’ signature? Did Lewis sign as a result of that?”
Isn’t it really the chicken and egg story, questioning which came first?
“But I believe Lewis made the move before Newey did. It’s not the first instance where Newey has attempted or actually left, as there was a time during his tenure at Red Bull when he expressed interest in joining the America’s Cup, displaying a desire to depart.”
“He indeed stepped away from the team temporarily, assuming a more passive role and allowing the rest of the design team to advance the Red Bull concept. Now, it is evident that he has made his comeback.”
“He has had a history of coming and going at Red Bull for several years now, so this isn’t his first time.”
“Perhaps this was the opportune moment for him to depart and venture elsewhere. Could he also be joining the red team?”
When asked about the possibility of working with Newey in Miami, Hamilton expressed a strong desire for it.
Adrian possesses an impressive track record and a rich history of accomplishments throughout his career. His exceptional ability to connect with teams and vast knowledge make him an outstanding candidate for an invaluable addition.
In my opinion, their team is already exceptional. They are making significant advancements and their car is faster this year. However, I consider it an honor to have the opportunity to collaborate with him.
“If I were to compile a list of individuals I genuinely desire to collaborate with, he would unquestionably rank as my number one choice.”
