The sport’s regulations have been under extensive discussion for quite some time, and the alterations made to Formula 1’s power units are the most significant since the transition to turbo hybrid power in 2014.

There will be a heightened emphasis on electrical power, with a more balanced distribution between internal combustion and electric power as the MGU-K feature’s power output is expected to triple. Additionally, for the first time, the power units will be fueled by sustainable fuel that is entirely carbon-free.

The drive to create more sustainable engines has been identified as a significant factor in attracting new manufacturers such as Audi to the sport. Additionally, Honda’s collaboration with Aston Martin to manufacture a factory power unit is seen as another outcome of this push.
