Haas confirm plans for F1 2026 and beyond with major Ferrari announcement

Haas have announced that they have extended their technical partnership with Ferrari until the end of the F1 2028 season.

Haas have held a close technical partnership with Ferrari since their F1 entry in 2016, with the unique arrangement allowing the American team to run as many Ferrari-built parts as is allowed under F1’s regulations.

Last week, reports suggested that the team, which receives technical assistance from Italian company Dallara, was considering a collaboration with Toyota. Toyota, the Japanese manufacturer, had last participated in Formula 1 in 2009.

On Tuesday, Haas made an announcement that they will maintain a close collaboration with Ferrari even after the significant F1 2026 regulations are implemented. These regulations will bring about extensive modifications to both the chassis and engine rules.

“The extension of our partnership with Scuderia Ferrari until 2028 brings me great joy,” expressed Ayao Komatsu, the Haas team principal.

Haas, who have been at the bottom of the Constructors’ Championship twice in the past three seasons, have unexpectedly become a standout team in the F1 2024 season. They currently occupy seventh place in the Constructors’ standings, a position they will defend in the upcoming Hungarian Grand Prix in Budapest.

With a score of 27 points, Haas is positioned 18 points above Alpine in eighth place, and just four points away from VCARB, the Red Bull junior team, who are in sixth place.

Haas’s lead driver, Nico Hulkenberg, maintained their impressive start to the season with another strong performance at the British Grand Prix in Silverstone. The experienced driver secured a sixth-place finish for the second race in a row.

During the British GP weekend, Haas made an announcement stating that Ferrari’s talented junior driver, Oliver Bearman, will be taking the place of Hulkenberg for F1 2025. However, the team has yet to disclose the identity of Bearman’s teammate.

According to various reports at Silverstone, which have been verified by PlanetF1.com, it has been confirmed that Esteban Ocon, the Alpine driver, has agreed to a contract with Haas for the upcoming season. An official announcement is anticipated to be made prior to the Hungarian Grand Prix.

Should Ocon’s arrival be confirmed, it is highly probable that Kevin Magnussen’s grand prix career, which has seen him spend seven out of his nine full seasons in F1 with Haas, would come to an end.

Since making a comeback with Haas in F1 2022, the Danish driver has only managed to accumulate a mere eight points over the past two seasons. However, there was a positive turn of events as he finally broke a streak of seven races without scoring in Austria.
