Jack Doohan has already participated in four FP1 sessions.
Jack Doohan will complete the fifth FP1 session of his career this weekend as he jumps in the Alpine car of Esteban Ocon in Canada.
In order to meet the requirements, teams must include rookies with two grands prix or less on their CV in two FP1 sessions during the season. Alpine has chosen to fulfill one of these obligations by participating in the opening session in Montreal.
Jack Doohan to replace Esteban Ocon in Canada FP1
Doohan is a member of the Alpine academy and is many people’s favourite to get the seat in 2025 following Ocon’s departure, which was confirmed earlier this week.
This weekend, the team’s reserve driver, a 21-year-old Australian, will be taking the wheel of the A524.
Upon confirmation, he expressed his enthusiasm to hit the track in Montreal for FP1.
“I am excited about my upcoming debut at Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve, as it will be my first time driving there. I am thankful to the team for giving me the chance to gain more experience on the track and to become acquainted with the 2024 machinery early in the season. This will greatly benefit my work in the simulator, especially during the European rounds.”
“I will prioritize giving my best for the team and optimizing the session for both drivers. This will involve examining specific test elements and comprehending the characteristics of the new track surface.”
